Innovative local cookie manufacturer Charlie’s Cookies, has secured its second consecutive Qantas contract, furthering its cause-related in-flight snack campaign (Proud to Call Australia Home). This latest campaign leverages the broad and powerful reach of Qantas’ domestic passengers, to generate awareness for Australian Prostate Cancer Research (APCR).

Long known for its grass-roots values and innovative approach to business, Australian made and owned Charlie’s Cookies has developed a delicious new line of specially curated in-flight snack boxes with heart. “Through our on-going relationship with Qantas we discovered a shared vision for wanting to get behind great Australian initiatives. Charlie’s set about developing this exclusive program of philanthropic support via Qantas’ complimentary in-flight snack menu, which naturally taps into a huge captive audience. It’s a real win-win all round” – (Ken Mahlab, Managing Director – Charlie’s Cookies)

Honouring their long-standing passion for using great local produce, the folks at Charlie’s have called upon some of their finest friends to create an all-new snack selection with a difference. Each Proud To Call Australia Home snack box includes just-right portions of cheese, lavash, dip and of course Charlie’s signature shortbread bikkies, making the perfect mid-flight pick-me-up.

In a move that offers Qantas passengers the chance to bring some feel-good meaning to their in-flight nibbles, Charlie’s will direct 5 cents from every complimentary in-flight snack box to a range of selected Australian initiatives. Not only is the campaign aimed at providing financial support to innovative Australian organisations, it also seeks to provide them with invaluable exposure to a wider audience.

The inaugural Proud To Call Australia Home  snack box was launched in March 2016 and highlighted the work of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation, Bangarra Dance Theatre. The subsequent menu cycle featured Ovarian Cancer Australia. The initiative has already raised over $15,000 for each organisation.

In the current menu cycle Charlie’s is featuring Australian Prostate Cancer Research (APCR).  CEO Mark Harrison said “We are thrilled to be partnering with an innovative Australian company like Charlie’s Cookies to increase awareness of Prostate Cancer in Australia.  This is a great opportunity for us to give a bite-sized message to Aussie men flying Qantas: know the facts about prostate cancer.  Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men -if you’re 50 years or older, talk to your GP about testing for prostate cancer.”

Charlie’s Cookies Proud To Call Australia Home  snack boxes have been a complimentary offering on selected Qantas domestic flights since 29 March 2016. The APCR campaign will run until Dec 2017.
